If you have ever seen Troy work, you know immediately that it is his love for this animal that inspires him. How many times have I heard Troy say, “This was never meant to be a job for me? I was just doing what I love and what fascinates me.” You see it was on one fateful night that Troy ran into that one person that changes your life forever. Troy was already quite the accomplished horseman in Australia – successful racing career, record breaking jockey, & rookie of the year in team roping. Well, it might be best for me to let Troy tell this part… At one particular rodeo at one particular night, there was this man and he was doing body work on a horse. I had never seen anything like it. The changes could be physically seen as this man was working. I was fascinated and wanted – no more like I had to learn what he was doing. I became obsessed with wanting to gain knowledge about everything I could – massage, being massaged, acupressure, energy release, and just anything that would help the horse feel or perform better. I undertook the study of Bowen Therapy and acupressure. I read any book I could get my hands on, observed and studied those that were proficient in this field trying to understand. I kept an open mind all the while questioning and imploring for the truth. Just because techniques have been working for so long does it mean they are the best? There is so much out there to learn. I don’t think anyone should say that this is the best way to treat a horse. Every horse and every problem is different. I use a culmination of theories to best increase the blood flow through your horse so that Mother Nature may heal naturally. I use pulsating magnetic therapy to stimulate blood flow along with Reiki massage & acupressure to release muscles. In addition, I created the Common sense stretches™ to maintain and improve your horse’s level of fitness while also improving flexibility and level of performance. Finally, I take the time to educate YOU, the owner, about maintaining my work. My passion has me traveling the United States working from horse to horse. I am known by nothing more than one satisfied customer talking to another inquiring customer. No problem is too small and no distance too far. I truly love what I do, “helping the horse help you”.
I don’t remember a time that I was not in love with the horse. I was just born with horse as part of my persona. Memories as far back as 4 and 5 – galloping around the playground playing horse, dragging a step ladder over to the barn to get on my father’s black & white paint so that I could ride around the pasture. The list can go on and on. But this brings to mind about my mother telling me around age 6 that if I wanted to ride, I had to learn to saddle my horse myself. That little obstacle was not going to stop me. So I would tie my horse next to our porch & then launch the saddle to his back. After all, how else was I going to get the saddle on him? I was not tall enough. I guess… it all just stemmed from that innocent child-like love, desire & tenacity. Oh, I tried to enter into the corporate world. I went to college, earned my degree, even thought about law school, and finally got a career with a fancy title. But none of that made me happy. I was doing what we are supposed to be doing. But in the end, I found that I was just happiest getting a job that supported my Passion – Riding, working around the barn, around my horses, and going to rodeos & shows. I am sure that all of you can relate. Sometime around my mid 20’s I became consumed with the desire to learn about nutrition, herbs, & more naturalistic approaches to health and wellness. I started reading anything I could get my hands on – medical journals & texts, books on homeopathy, nutraceuticals, herbs, natural alternatives, etc. Oh boy, do I have quite an extensive library to prove it. It was at that time my two passions converged. I combined my love of the horse and my continual growing knowledge of holistic choices to come up with a Back-to-Basics approach for the care of horses. And…. it just continues to grow from there.
