Carefully blended combination of nutrients to support normal muscle recovery.
The Inside Scoop...
Horses can store enough Vitamin E to compensate for four months of inadequate intake, but then become deficient. Vitamin E deficiencies can include weight loss when maintaining adequateration, tough hair coat and neurological complications. Vitamin E and Selenium protect muscles from toxic free radicals produced as a result of exercise. Adequate Vitamin E levels can also elevate immune responses as part of the cellular antioxidant defense system. Selenium contributes to improve the uptake of Vitamin E in the digestive tract and transport into tissues. Deficiencies in young horses can cause stiffness, listlessness, lung edema and an increase in heart rate, respiration rate and salivation. In Adults it also causes stiffness as well as a decreased immune response and lowered fertility. 1 - 2 mg of selenium per 1100 lb. horse per day in low selenium regions is recommended. The addition of this supplement to feed containing higher levels of selenium is not permitted. Determine total selenium content of ration prior to supplementation and consult your veterinarian.
